From 2024, the new EU Batteries Regulation (BATT2) will gradually force vehicle and battery manufacturers to reduce the carbon footprint of batteries. Among other things, this will be achieved by extending the service life of the battery through repair and reuse and by increasing the proportion of recycled raw materials used in battery production. The repair and reuse of used electric vehicle batteries also make sense from an economic perspective.
Since 2019, Leadec has set up an expert center for new battery-related services in Hoyerswerda and operates its own battery repair center (BRC) there.
